Dr. Jim Verners - Chiropractic Sports Specialist

Welcome to Verners Chiropractic: Located in Victoria, BC

Pain in the absence of physical signs is often difficult to appreciate, therefore, I would like to take this opportunity to present my approach to chiropractic care.

There are essentially two very different approaches to chiropractic; one is more holistic and philosophical while the other is more evidence-based and biomechanical in nature. My approach is what may be termed Modern Chiropractic; a blend of the evidence based science while retaining the essence of holistic health care.

In a biomechanical approach, the focus is on joint motion and the cause of any dysfunction. I believe that the majority of all musculo-skeletal injuries are caused by repetitive micro-trauma (little things you do wrong) and that only a small percentage of injuries are caused by macro-trauma (car accidents, sport injuries).

My practice is not built on maintenance care, but more on education about ergonomic / physical stresses which may affect your function and performance. Recognizing ways to alleviate these stresses is critical for long term health.

I hold degrees in Physical Education and was an athletic therapist with various athletic teams including the University of Alberta, McGill University and most notably Hockey Canada. I graduated from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in 1995 and in 2004 was awarded a post-doctorate specialty in Sports Injuries and Rehabilitation from the Royal College of Chiropractic Sports Sciences (Canada). I am a former competitive athlete (track & field, soccer, hockey) and now try to appreciate a variety of physical pursuits towards good health.

I look forward to working with you towards your good health.
